The Winter Season in NKC!!!

Picture taken December 9th. We had a dusting of snow.

Our snowed-in rain-deer Dec. 26th.

A pile of snow on the East side of our home.

Buffalo Bob wearing a coat of snow.

I-70 on the way to Lawrence.

Still on our way to Lawrence.

Icicles stretching down the East side of our house Dec. 28th.

We have had quite a bit of snow this December. It is pretty. I am thankful I haven't had to drive in it though. The icicles are fun. They remind me of the icicles I saw when I was a child growing up in Ogden, Utah.

What a talented fellow Jess is. He is very handy to have around. Much of what he knows about stuff he has learned by reading. I am extremely excited about my new desk Jess recently finished. I LOVE IT. He put a lot of time, effort and love into building it for me. James, Jess's brother is talented also. He covered the benches that go to the long table. Jess also repairs cars, paints vehicles, walls, doors, etc. He is an excellent cook and a marvelous electrical engineer. These are a few of his talents. Go Jess!!! Love You Tons!!!

Autumn 2009!!!

In our back yard facing west a housetop view.
We have a resident spider.
I love how the trees merge to create an arch 23rd Ave. looking west.
Fall vibrancy housetop view to our east.
Our mum and other ground cover.
A tree that sets across the street from our house.
My Lobelia plant.

I so love the change in seasons. Each has it's own beauty. This autumn is dazzling, showing off my favorite colors. I have planted some tulip bulbs and 3 peony plants. It will be exciting next spring when hopefully they show off their first blooms. I hope all of you are able to enjoy this autumn.

Kitchen Remodel!!!

Our kitchen as it looked Sept. 2008

Sept. 2008 notice the brick wall

Sept. 2009 process of taking cupboards etc. down.

Where the stove was

Yeah! the brick wall is out of our kitchen!

A close look at the old counter top

What was found under the sink

The area under the sink after the cleaning, rebuilding the floor and painting.

The sticky job of putting up the lamenate back splash took four of us. Pictured are Jess, James and Phil. I was taking the picture.

I was cleaning the cupboards.

Phil and Jess (Rambo look-alikes) hard at work on the rebuild of the long lower cupboard.

Tah Dah!! The finished and improved kitchen.

We also have a new sink and faucet.

Love the freshly painted walls.

This project started Friday Sept. 4th 2009 and continued through Tuesday Sept. 8th. The work involved:
REMOVING cupboards, drawers, counter top, dish washer, sink, want-to-be brick that was hard glued to drywall, stove,
REBUILDING the long lower cupboard, the floor under the sink,
PUTTING IN new drywall, counter top,
CAULKING in many places,
PAINTING new drywall and lower cupboards,
CLEANING electrical outlets, cupboards, drawers, stove, and dishwasher.
I extend my sincere thanks to Jess, Phil and James, for their hard work, a big thanks to Ariela for offering her kitchen to us while ours was being worked on, a large thank you to Larry the owner of our house who gave us the okay to work on the kitchen and paying for the materials needed.

YIPPEE, NO MORE FAKE BRICK WALLS!!!!
