August 2012 Happenings Part 2

Aug. 25th-We hosted a celebration for Ariela's Birthday. Phil treated us to "Smokin' Guns BBQ". Hunter, Phil's dog, wanted some too.

During August I worked on, finished and mailed a small picture album for a sweet granddaughter. These are some of the photos I included. I love my children and grandchildren lots.

August Happenings 2012 Part 1

Aug. 1st and 2nd-Jess and I camped at this state park.

Aug. 7th-Jess and I went to the Ameristar Theater and saw "Hope Springs".

Aug. 12-I walked the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Kansas City, MO. It was my 4th year doing it. I love participating it this event. I never tire of walking passed the Sprint Center (the 3rd photo) or the very interesting Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts building (the 5th photo). I love being part of something so positive. It is wonderful seeing all the participants who are breast cancer survivors.

I loved watching the Olympics from the Opening Ceremony on July 27 to the last few events on August 12th. My favorite summer Olympics sports to watch were gymnastics, swimming, diving and running. I love the theme music for the Olympics and how London was set up for the games.

August 13th-The staff at Ravenwood went back to work. The children returned to school on August 21st.

July 27th my photo of team USA at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

What an exciting and busy July we had with July 4th, Jess's b-day, going to a movie with Heather and LaKai, biking and taking walks with Jess, making a quilt for Taylor's 2nd b-day, watching the Olympics. Whew! It was hot but it seemed breezy each day. The air was drier than usual.

Happy 100 Year Anniversary NKC, MO!!

The black and white photo was in our community calendar for this year. I find it fascinating to compare the then and now of things. Along this NKC Avenue the homes still have their same basic layout with an added garage or car port here and there. Most of the awnings have been taken down. Many if not all of the shrubs that were close to the homes have been up rooted. The trees have grown and more have been planted.
